Windows Vista

Below are the instructions for setting Windows Vista to Obtain an IP Address automatically:

  1. Open the Start Menu, and type the following into the white Search Box: ncpa.cpl
  2. Choose your network connection, right-click it, and select Properties.
    • If you are using wireless to connect to your modem, choose the "Wireless Network Connection".
    • If you are using an Ethernet cable to connect to your modem, choose the "Local Area Connection".
  3. Double-click on Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4).
  4. Select "Obtain an IP address automatically", and also select "Obtain DNS server address automatically".
  5. Press OK, and then press OK again.
